Under these amendments, Section A-VI/1 of the STCW Code is amended for training provisions to prevent and respond to violence and harassment, including sexual harassment, bullying and sexual assault.
Basic Training certificates issued prior to 1 January 2026 shall remain valid until their expiry date. Upon renewal, seafarers must complete the updated training covering the new competence.
Seafarers holding refreshed/renewal Basic Training certificates after 1 January 2026 must ensure that their certificates include the new competence "Contribute to the prevention of and response to violence and harassment, including sexual harassment, bullying and sexual assault."
